Mise-en-scene
The lighting used in this image high key lighting. This is used to create a realistic look. from this you can infer that the genre of this film could be based around drama. There is a high use of top and back lighting. this helps get rid of any harsh shadows created which is ideal for the setting of this image. As they are in an open space it will need to seem like the characters are being lit by natural light so they may not have used as many filler lights in order to create some soft shadows for it to appear like it naturally created by what the audience would assume be the sun. The costume of the characters are very natural and casual compared to what it would be if it was an action film or a science fiction film. The make up of the characters is also very natural which gives us a idea that the genre is drama as if it where to be a science fiction or fantasy film they would most likely have a lot of make up to emphasize that the characters are unusual if it were about aliens.
The costume is black and a common connotation of black is death. This suggest that the film is a horror film which contains murders and usually a lot of death. Black could also be a secretive colour which is further emphasized by the mask that the character is wearing which is covering his entire face showing he wants to hide his identity from everyone. the fact that the the mask he is wearing is of a wolf could try to show that he is a predator and that he is thirsty for blood which is what is the outcome of murders. The lighting used is low key lighting which is conventionally used in horror movies because it creates a lot of shadows. In this poster there is a use of dim back lighting used to create an almost silhouette look emphasizing the fact that the character is unknown. The use of props emphasizes the genre of the film as the character is holding what looks like a machete that is covered in blood. Blood is a key aspect of horror films therefore the audience of the film are able to recognise this and get an idea of what to expect in this film.
The lighting in this film is low key lighting. The effect this creates is suitable for the genre of the film which includes slight thriller hence the dark colour of the background ass well but it is also an adventure/action film. The contrast between the light and dark could suggest the difference between good and bad. there is a use of top lighting which is evident from the top of the dinosaur's head. instead of making the characters look more glamorous the character looks more dangerous from this effect it makes the dinosaur look big. there is a use of under lighting which makes the dinosaur's features more prominent and more threatening. The setting is in an open place which is a conventional setting for an action/adventure movie. The open space allows more of the action set-pieces to be seen on screen and allows there to be more detail in on frame.
The setting of the film shows that they are out of space and on an extraterrestrial planet. This is the first clue that this is a science fiction film. The lighting used is low key lighting this creates shadows which could suggest the tension in the atmosphere or future danger. Since this is a sci-fi film it is going to have a lot of action set pieces so the open space setting suggest something is about to happen. The costume also implies that it is not a part of our world. This is because we wouldn't need to wear masks if we were outside, which shows that something is out of the ordinary. The mask looks like its made out of metal which is not what the mask we usually wear is made out of, which could mean it is used to protect the character from something very dangerous or in this case since it is a human in space it is just be used to help him breathe.
